Watched Movie #154 Can You Ever Forgive Me? Based on a true story, Celebrity Biographer Lee Israel no longer seems to be able to get published, so she starts using her talents by forging and selling celebrity letters in order to make a living, but eventually gets caught. This was an interesting story, but it was a little slow. Melissa McCarthy stars as Lee Israel, in a dramatic role, and does a very good job. She plays a very hard, isolated individual who prefers to be around her cat more than the company of people. Her acting, seems to draw you in, and even though she kind of is the villain in the story, you feel bad for her situation and almost seem to root for her. I wouldn’t be surprised if Melissa is nominated for some awards. Even though the acting is great, the movie seemed to be a little slow at times, but overall it was an interesting story, and based on the best selling autobiography from Lee herself. If you like interesting independent movies, then you may want to check it out, otherwise I might wait to stream it.
