Watched Movie #153 Halloween. It’s been 40 years since that Halloween night in 1978, when Michael Myers killed several people and also tried to kill Laurie Strode. He has been locked up in an institution that past 40 years and is able to escape during a patient transfer. Laurie who has been preparing for this night since her terrifying experience, now must face her fears in the final battle with the masked killer, but this time, she’s ready for him. I enjoyed the movie, it has some good tension at times and had a lot of nods to the original movie. It also explored a bit on how a terrifying event can change a person. The movie was a little slow in the beginning, but the tension rises near the second half of the film. The story line was interesting, but a little predictable, and sort of reminded me of Terminator 2. There is also a little plot twist in one section that I did not expect. It’s a little more violent than the original (in the original, there is very little blood, and it was not as graphic as this new one.) This movie is a sequel to the original Halloween, and ignores the other 7 sequel films, and take place 40 years after the original film. If you saw the original and liked the original film, then I would definitely go and see this one. If not, then I might pass, as the things I liked about the movie, where the nods and references to the original, and I did not find it to be very scary. But maybe I’m a little jaded.
Happy Halloween.
