Hope everyone had a great 4th. Watched movie #112 The First Purge. A prequel to the purge movies, tries to explain how the purge started as an annual event to rid aggression on one night and create a peaceful and prosperous tomorrow. When i saw the original film, i thought the premise was interesting, but i didn’t think it was that good. I guess i was wrong as this is now the 4th in the series. I didn’t think this one was that great either. I felt the story was weak, it was supposed to explain how it began, but it just gave the basic explanation that was in the first movie, i expected more detail. I also think that one scene with one of the main characters was added later, so it was viewed on a webcam, so we couldn’t really see the character, just their hair color. Most likely the actor was already gone, so they shot it this way. Most of the action doesn’t happen until the last part of the movie. There were 2 good jump scares, but overall it was just senseless violence. If you liked the other purge movies, you may like this, otherwise i would skip. There must be an audience for this as in the credits they did announce that a new tv series called The Purge is coming.
