Watched movie #109 Hibiscus and Ruthless. Hibiscus has an overbearing mother with rules of No Going out and No boyfriends while she is in her senior year of college. As guys start to ask her out, she asks her best friend Ruth aka Ruthless to help keep her on track though their senior year. This movie was ok, it was a comedy from New Zealand. Some of the comedy i didn’t get, but i think it was cultural as Hibiscus was Pacific Islander and spoke in another language to her family and people in the audience laughed but i didn’t see what was funny in the English subtitles. I was the only non-Pacific Islander in the theater. The acting was ok, but not the best, which seems common in independent films. The audience applauded at the end, so if you like New Zealand films, then check it out.
