Watched movie #163 The Prodigy. Miles seems to be very gifted and is leaning thing very quickly as he grows, but when his behavior becomes disturbing, his mother Sarah, must determine what is causing his sudden changes in order to protect her family. So my moviepass was working tonight and I have 2 moves to see before the 15th, so I figured I would go see a movie and this was available. This movie was good in parts, and bad in others. It was predictable and unbelievable at times. There are several jump scares throughout this movie, and most of them work but some do not. There is one big one that is in the trailer for the movie and one lady screamed very loud and then everyone in the theater laughed. The plot seemed to remind me of other evil child films like The Omen, at times, but it did have some different ideas, and there was some tension at various times, which also seems to work well. The acting by the kid in the film, was very good at times, he was acting with 2 different personalities and did a great job portraying them both. Its rated R, so some of the violence and language can be a little shocking in a couple scenes. If you like scary movies, and have fun with jump scares, and are ok with being able to predict the ending, then you will probably like this one, if not, then I would pass or wait to stream it.
